Netherlands-based Royal Philips Electronics recently developed a series of one-chip wireless devices targeted at mainland China's automotive market. The chips are suitable for lighting, security and entertainment purposes, and are expected to assist the development of the mainland's automotive electronics sector.

The company has already invested over $3.4 billion, but mostly in consumer electronics. It plans on bringing its products and technology into the mainland and setting up R&D centers in east or south China.

Philips is hopeful that mainland China will become its largest market for automotive electronics in the next three to five years. By next year, the mainland's automotive electronics market is expected to be valued at $12.7 billion.
