Cellular chipset provider PrairieComm has inked partnership agreements with Openwave systems, under which Openwave will port its Phone Suite version 7(V7) software to PrairieComm's FronTier 3G reference platform.

Phone Suite V7 is a graphical application framework for mobile phones that includes a WAP2 browser and an integrated messaging client. The software platform comes pre-integrated with IBM's WebSphere Everyplace Micro Environment (WEME) and IBM's Java technology.

Under the partnership, Openwave will port Phone Suite V7 to PrairieComm's FronTier110 UMTS/GSM/GPRS mobile phone platform. The platform is built around PrairieComm's PCI5110 baseband processor and third-party image processor.
