New Japan Radio (NJR) Co. Ltd has unveiled a compact surface mount type photo reflector that allows Pb-free reflow soldering.

With the NJL5902R photo reflector, it is possible to perform reflow soldering with a 260C temperature twice. The device offers high output current and the high SNR, combined with a high output infrared LED and a high sensitivity Si photo-transistor. Additionally, maximum operating dark current is 0.3?A.

Offered in a thin surface-mount package measuring 2.7-by-1.9-by-0.8mm, the photo reflector is designed for use in position detection of CD/DVD optical pickup head, rotation detection and control of various motors, end detection of VCR tape and reading film information and mechanism timing detection of camera.
