Microsemi photodiode eyes 1,550nm optical nets

Microsemi Corp., a manufacturer of analog/mixed signal ICs, released a coplanar waveguide photodiode for high-bandwidth single-mode-fiber optical networking applications.

Designated the LX3055, the InGaAs/InP PIN photodiodes are suitable for high bandwidth 1,310nm and 1,550nm optical networks. Applications include optical receivers, transponders, optical transmission modules and combination PIN photodiode-transimpedance amplifiers.

"We are offering the LX3055 in known good die form to allow our customers maximum control of their custom wirebond or flip-chip assembly," said Paul Bibeau, VP and GM of Microsemi's Integrated Products Group.

The new photodiode features large wire bond contact pads for more reliable assembly, high response, low dark current and high bandwidth for high performance and high sensitivity receiver designs.

Priced at $3.33 in 10,000-unit quantities, the LX3055 is available for immediate sampling and volume delivery. Complete technical information is available at Microsemi's website.
