Tyco Telecommunications has announced a multi-million dollar contract to provide high bandwidth circuits to Japan Telecom (JT), an international provider of high-speed broadband and high-quality video services. Tyco Telecommunications will offer the international circuits on the Tyco Global Network (TGN) to support JT's growing international video broadcast transmission services.
Under the terms of the four-year agreement, Tyco Telecommunications will provide JT with multiple STM-16 circuits (2.488Gbps) to connect JT's distribution facility in Tokyo, Japan with key points of presence (PoPs) in New York, London, Paris, Frankfurt and Amsterdam. The first of these circuits will support JT's plans to provide HDTV broadcast services for the 2004 Summer Olympics. The other high bandwidth circuits support JT's plans to provide video broadcast services between Japan, the U.S. and Europe for the next several years. |
