Semiconductor test equipment vendor Thermo Electron Corp.'s KeyTek compliance test group has a newly configured spin of the company's existing EMCPro electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) test system. Dubbed the KeyTek EMCPro PLUS, the futuristic looking piece of test gear features resident capabilities for EMC compliance testing to six IEC/EN standards.

Priced at about $15,000, the new EMCPro PLUS fully addresses new requirements for a 100kHz burst rate (per IEC61000-4-4, Edition 2) and an 80 percent dip (per IEC 61000-4-11, Edition 2).

Portable high voltage

The portable KeyTek EMCPro PLUS features surge testing to 6kV with combination, telecom and ring waves. Thermo claims that it's the only combination tester on the market to offer the combination wave with one or two additional built-in surge waveforms. The company points out that this feature can eliminate dependence on test houses, and on the need to purchase additional (read expensive) test equipment.

The KeyTek EMCPro PLUS is also billed as the only system to monitor surge voltage and current at its output terminals. For accuracy, it monitors at the output of its coupling unit and automatically switches connections according to the coupling mode - instead of measuring at the generator.

The KeyTek EMCPro PLUS is also upgradeable. Upgrading to new test requirements or standards involves adding appropriate options or accessories.
