Celeritek Inc., provider of hi-rel GaAs-based components for the defense, wireless infrastructure, test instrumentation and satellite marketplace, developed a 1W, GaAs MMIC power amplifier operating in the frequency range of 2GHz to 20GHz.

The new CMM0016-BD power amplifier is available as a bare die and is manufactured using the company's in-house GaAs pHEMT semiconductor technology. Designed for applications operating within the 2GHz to 20GHz frequency range, it is a suitable solution for transmit, receive and IF applications. Typical specifications at 10GHz include a 31dBm, P1dB performance, 9.5dB linear gain, and 31.8 dBm saturated output power.

Measuring 2.32-by-1.30-by-0.076mm, the chip also includes integrated on-chip dc blocking, and is fully matched and is directly cascadable with other broadband driver amplifiers currently available from Celeritek.

Priced at $285 in quantities of 100, the CMM0016-BD is already sampling. The bare die comes in GelPak packages. A data sheet with complete specifications, performance data and assembly, die attach and bonding procedures is available online.
