WLAN packet processing silicon and software start-up SiNett Corp. has taken a license for MIPS Technologies' 32 4KEp Pro core for a range of devices slated to be introduced by the end of this year.
SiNett said the core will allow it to boost application performance in the parts it is developing for network OEMs targeting seamless wireless access in the enterprise. Shiri Kadambi, co-founder and CEO of SiNett, said, "We chose the 4KEp Pro core because it gives us the most flexibility to meet our design goals and deliver highly competitive solutions for the seamless integration of wired and wireless networks,"
"Networking infrastructure products that enable wireless access to corporate resources is an important growth market," noted Jack Browne, VP of worldwide sales at MIPS Technologies. "The performance and CorExtend capabilities of the 4KEp Pro core will allow SiNett's design team to innovate with ease and get to market fast using an industry-standard architecture."
The 4KEp Pro core offers 356 Dhrystone MIPS performance and great flexibility to optimize applications while reducing power consumption. Features include the CorExtend capability, enabling designers to add user-defined instructions and maintain compatibility with the MIPS architecture.
