Genesis Microchip Inc. has entered a licensing agreement with Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd, under which Samsung will receive a license to the Genesis patents that were the subject of Genesis's litigation in the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC).

The patents covered in the agreement include the patent the ITC recently determined was infringed by MStar Semiconductor Inc., Media Reality Technologies Inc. and Trumpion Microelectronics Inc.

"This license agreement enables Samsung to continue importing consumer display products containing Genesis' patented upscaling technology into the United States," said Robert Lensch, Genesis Microchip's vice president of business development, in a statement. "We are pleased that this agreement will help ensure continued delivery of Samsung products to the consumer."

Other terms of the agreement are confidential.
