O2Micro receives LCD TV/LCD monitor patents

O2Micro Int. Ltd has been granted 22 claims under the United States patent number 6,707,264 and 41 claims under the United States patent number 6,778,415 for its Phase-on demand invention. The patented invention is the basis of the company's Phase Array backlight Intelligent Inverter controller chipset, designed for large LCD panel applications, such as LCD TV receivers and monitors that require multiple lamps.

Yung Lin, O2Micro EVP of the Intelligent Lighting Business Unit, stated, "The patented Phase-on-demand architecture will enable the designer to utilize a modular design approach for various LCD TV panel sizes, while offering the highest performance and efficiency, compared to solutions available on the market today. The Phase-on-demand design methodology supports up to 64 cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs)."
