PTC, HK University team up in nanotech R&D project

Product Development Co. (PTC) has partnered with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University for the advancement of nanotechnology in Hong Kong.

Nanotechnology, also referred to as, molecular manufacturing, is a branch of engineering that deals with the design and manufacture of tiny electronic circuits and mechanical devices built at the molecular level of matter.

As part of the deal, PTC will provide its product design and lifecycle management solutions Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire and Windchill ProjectLink to the university. The Windchill ProjectLink and Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire are core components of the PTC Product Development System.

On the other hand, the university will use the product design and management solutions to collaborate with: Hong Kong Polytechnic University; Wilfred Laurier University, Canada; University of Liverpool, U.K.; Huazhong University of Science Technology, mainland China; Harbin Institute of Technology, mainland China; Ningbo University, mainland China; and Guangdong University of Technology, mainland China, on a project regarding how to design and manufacture a micro-injection molding machine. The developed micro-injection molding machine will be used in the mass production of micro-products.
