ISSI SRAMs tailored for mobile, battery back-up apps

Touted to be the industry's leading ultra low power, high speed asynchronous SRAMs, the new IS61WV6416LL and the IS63WV1024LL from Integrated Silicon Solution Inc. (ISSI) are designed for mobile and battery back-up applications such as handheld scanners, tablet computers, multifunction cellphones, STBs and WLANs.

"These new SRAMs solve a problem often found in many handheld and mobile applications," said Sanjiv Asthana, the company's VP of sales and marketing. "They offer the customer the high speed required for performance, but still fit within a tight power budget."

The new SRAMs, configured as 64K x 16 (IS61WV6416LL) and 128K x 8 (IS63WV1024LL), combine an access time of 20ns with a typical standby current of 4?A and a typical operating current of 15mA. These 1Mb devices operate at 2.5V to 3.6V over an industrial temperature range of -40C to 85C, and have a wide data retention voltage range of 1.2V to 3.6V. Both products are fabricated using high-performance 6T 0.15?m CMOS technology.

The IS63WV1024LL, X8 organization, is available in 36-ball mBGA, and 32-pin TSOP2, sTSOP1 and SOJ JEDEC standard packages. The IS61WV6416LL, X16 organization, is housed in 48-ball mBGA, and 44-pin TSOP2 JEDEC standard packages. For quantities of 10,000, the SRAMs are priced at $1.40.
