Vishay Intertechnology Inc. has completed the acquisition of the assets of RFWaves Ltd, an Israeli fabless IC design house, for cash and other considerations.

The purchase price is not material to Vishay's financial position or cash flows. RFWaves was founded in 1999 and had sales of $1.75 million in 2003.

By acquiring RFWaves, Vishay adds to its product portfolio several wireless transceivers ranging from 1 to 3Mbps. The acquired products operate in the 2.4GHz band, offer low power consumption, and provide a high cost/performance ratio due to a patented architecture based on combining SAW (surface acoustic wave) and silicon technologies.

RFWaves' chipsets are intended for high-volume consumer applications such as game controllers, PC peripherals, high-quality audio systems, and headsets.
