RF Micro Devices Inc. (RFMD) has announced that Taiwan-based Air2U, a designer and manufacturer of wireless consumer electronics products, is using RFMD's SiW3000 UltimateBlue single-chip Bluetooth component in its USB adapter. The adapter has been certified by Microsoft as an authorized device for testing the compatibility of Bluetooth wireless products operating with the Windows XP system.

Mike Yin, director of product marketing for the wireless personal area network (WPAN) product line at RFMD, said, "The Air2U USB adapter incorporating RFMD's single-chip SiW3000 Bluetooth solution enables customers to quickly meet the rigorous WHQL test requirements and achieve Microsoft interoperability and qualification in order to use the highly recognized 'Designed for Windows' logo. The WHQL certification ensures compatibility and interoperability with Microsoft products and is essential, as the recently released Service Pack 2 for Microsoft Windows XP is designed to support Bluetooth protocol stack software."
