Murata Mfg Co. Ltd has commercialized an optical transceiver as its first module designed for the optical communication market.

To achieve bi-directional transmission, which uses a single optical fiber for both sending and receiving data, the company packed a module that combines and splits signals of different wavelengths into a small package. The package conforms to specifications called SFF (Small Form Factor) of MSA (Multi Source Agreement), the standard in the communication industry.

Target applications include FTTH for collective houses and business-to-business (B2B) communication.
