China projects robust revenues for EMS, ODM sectors

Electronic manufacturing service (EMS) providers and original design manufacturers (ODMs) in mainland China are gearing up for a 20 percent annual growth, according to an iSuppli Corp. report.

The growth in annual turnovers of mainland China EMS and ODMs is attributed to the sustained increase in outsourcing by Taiwan-based manufacturers.

EMS revenues will grow steadily by 21 percent, from $17.7 billion in 2003 to $45.5 billion by 2008. On the other hand, ODM revenues are expected to go up 22 percent annually, from to $39.6 billion in 2003 to $108 billion by 2008.
