The C2-X and C3-X series of surface mount power inductors from Mitsumi Electric Co. Ltd feature a small size and low profile of 2.6(&slash;)-by-1(H)mm and a closed magnetic circuit structure that lessens electromagnetic interference.

According to Mitsumi, these new devices reduce the mounting area by 25 percent compared to its previous products.

Multi-layer boards used in mobile telephones are mounted very densely, making it necessary to use a closed magnetic circuit structure that has little electromagnetic interference, the company explained. In addition, there is a greater need for smaller size and lower height than current products can provide.

The C2-X1.0R inductor features an inductance between 4.7?H and 10?H, rated current from 0.68A to 0.45A, and DC resistance between 380 milliohms and 950 milliohms. This product has an external dimension of 1(H)-by-2.6(W)-by-2.6(?)mm (max.).

The C3-X1.0R device has an inductance range of 4.7?H to 10?H, rated current between 0.80A and 0.55A, and DC resistance from 330 milliohms to 650 milliohms. It measures 1(H)-by-3.4(W)-by-3.4(?)mm (max.).
