Schottky barrier diode guarantees high efficiency operation

Zetex Semiconductors launched a 40V rated Schottky barrier diode housed in SOD523 packaging, and is claimed by the company to outperform much larger packaged devices in terms of VF/IR performance, continuous current handling capability and PCB space requirement.

With a maximum reverse current of 12?A and a low forward voltage, typically specified at 300mV and 730mV for continuous forward currents of 30mA and 350mA, respectively, the ZHCS350 diode assures high efficiency operation for various applications, including converters, chargers and LED drivers.

According to Zetex, the ZHCS350's 1.7-by-0.9mm footprint offers significant board space saving advantages over alternative SM packaged Schottkys, while its ultra low profile of 0.8mm will help combat any off-board height restrictions.

"The ZHCS350, which is the latest part to be added to the Zetex range of high-performance low VF Schottky diodes, is designated lead free, having 100 percent matte tin plated external leads," said David Slack, managing director of Zetex (Asia) Ltd. "We are also currently planning the ZLLS350, which is a low-leakage version of this Schottky and will be particularly well suited to applications requiring extended battery life."
