Panel maker Chunghwa Picture Tubes Ltd (CPT) plans to postpone its second- and third-stage equipment installation at its 6G plant, although the first-stage installation is currently being completed.

CPT Vice President for Sales and Marketing C.C. Liu states that the company is still gauging the market movement for panels and displays before continuing with the planned equipment installation.

Other manufacturers, such as AU Optronics Corp. and Chi Mei Optoelectronics Corp. already decided to postpone transfer of production to 5.5G and 6G plants.

Meanwhile, CPT Chairperson and President Lin Cheng-hung says that instead of merging panel production, Taiwan-based makers could jointly develop 7G plants similar with the joint venture of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd and Sony Corp.
