Adlink building block eyes telecom, networking comms apps

Adlink Technology Inc., a provider of Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (AdvancedTCA) products, has released an advanced telecom platform building blockthe ATCA-6890 processor blade.

Based on the PICMG 3.0 specification, the new ATCA-6890 is available in a dual processor configuration with the Low Voltage Intel Xeon processor 2.8GHz with 800MHz System Bus, or a single processor configuration with the Intel Xeon processor 3.2GHz with 800MHz System Bus. The new building block also features the Intel E7520 chipset, supports up to 16GB DDR2-400 memory, and is targeted for telecom and networking communication applications.

"AdvancedTCA with Intel Architecture processors is the platform of choice for telecom equipment manufacturers looking to quickly deliver new services for next generation networks," said Anthony Ambrose, GM for Intel's Modular Platform Programs. "With the new Low Voltage Intel Xeon processor built on the AdvancedTCA framework, equipment manufacturers are able to effectively meet customer demand with faster time-to-market."

The ATCA-6890 AdvancedTCA processor blade is intended for use in AdvancedTCA compliant platforms. Peripherals include six Gigabit Ethernet ports, one 10/100/1,000Mb Ethernet maintenance port, four USB 2.0 ports, two PMC sites, video (analog and flat panel), two parallel ATA ports, two Serial ATA ports, and two serial ports. Keyboard, mouse and printer functions are supported with USB, and a legacy PS/2 type connector is reserved on the Rear Transition Module (RTM).
