CoWare upgrades SystemC-based SoC modeling tools

Posted: 09 Nov 2004 ?? ?Print Version ?Bookmark and Share

CoWare Inc. has released a significant revision of its SystemC-based ConvergenSC system-on-chip (SoC) design tools that it claims will enable faster modeling and debug of IP models, platform subsystems, and SoC designs in SystemC.

According to the company, ConvergenSC 2004.2 features a SystemC integrated development and debug environment (IDE) based on the popular Eclipse C ++ development environment for embedded software. This, said CoWare, adds SystemC graphical debugging and a managed builds process to ConvergenSC's fast SystemC simulator and thread-aware debugging engine.

Because Eclipse is open, users can integrate Eclipse plug-ins into their ConvergenSC environment, the company said.

Version 2004.2 of ConvergenSC also now supports the latest release from OSCI, SystemC v2.1. ConvergenSC 2004.2 also adds capabilities that ease integration of user IP and platform development.

The capabilities include open support of user TLM specifications, hierarchical platform development, exporting fixed platform subsystems and importing subsystems for assembling SoCs.

The company claims that by using these capabilities, platform providers can more easily create system-level models of platform subsystems for their customers' rapid evaluation, customization and design-in.

ConvergenSC Advanced System Designer, including all capabilities for platform-based design, starts at $60,000 for a one-year subscription license. Current licensees get the upgrade at no extra charge.
