UbiNetics and Renesas Technology Corp. have agreed to develop an RF subsystem for emerging wideband CDMA (W-CDMA) and high-speed data packet access (HSDPA) designs for the Japanese, European, and US markets.

The RF subsystem will consist of an RF chip, power amplifier, SAW duplexer, and DC/DC converter. It will support W-CDMA and HSDPA operation in the 800MHz, 1.9GHz and 2.1GHz bands used in Europe, the US and Japan and is designed to be used with Renesas' quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE chips.

UbiNetics and Renesas Technology have previously partnered on RF solution development, agreeing to jointly design a W-CDMA RFIC in Sept. 2002.
