Nortel OMC-R obtains support from MERA Networks

Nortel Networks has entered into joint project agreement with MERA Networks, a forefront Russian software development outsourcing company. Under the project, MERA will provide a complete suite of support services to the OMC-R (operations and maintenance center platform-radio part), Nortel Networks' product for control of GSM networks.

The partnership of Nortel Networks and MERA Networks began in 1991 with an R&D contract in the domain of antenna measurement. In 1993 MERA became Nortel Networks' software development, sustenance and testing partner. Two years later, in 1995, MERA received the status of Nortel Networks' authorized supplier in this field. At present, MERA is engaged in eight Nortel Networks' projects focused on the most forefront IT spheres, with the total headcount of 400+ engineers.

Dmitry Ponomarev, president of MERA Group, said, "Nortel Networks shares with us its top-level business and management practices and arranges on the job training for MERA's employees. Our partner has helped us grow from a small R&D firm to a large international company.
