Samsung, LG.Philips to clash for 7G product market

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd and LG.Philips LCD Co. Ltd will vie for the 7G market as they complete construction of their respective production lines.

Although no standards have yet been set for the segment, Samsung states that it would be producing 1,870-by-2,200mm sheets, which can output eight 40-inch panels or six 46-inch panels. Meanwhile, LG.Philips will be making 1,950-by-2,250mm sheets next year, which can produce eight 42-inch panels or six 47-inch panels.

Further, Samsung plans to allocate KRW20 trillion ($19 billion at KRW1,035:$1) to its 7G to 10G production lines within the next four years, while LG.Philips will be investing KRW5.3 trillion ($5 billion) to its 7G lines.
