Spectrum Control introduced its complete line of surface mount filter solutions for addressing EMI at the PCB level. According to the press release, this new line of surface mount inductors, low pass filters, high frequency filters and power EMI filters is designed to offer high performance EMI filtering with minimal PCB footprint. Many of these components provide a high level of filtering in extremely small sizes, including several models in EIA 0402, added the company.

The new surface mount family consists of ferrite chip and power beads, ferrite inductors, ceramic chip inductors, three terminal chips, LC type chips, filter arrays, low pass filters (mini, square, round and power), high frequency PCB filters, and mini PCB power filters. Spectrum Control said its surface mount EMI filters will feature the same level of reliability and quality as its other filter products.

Many of the company's chips are designed for superior solderability, which aids in reducing production line rejects. In addition to sizes, there are a wide range of performance values to select from, including impedance from 5? to 2,000?, inductance between 1nH to 12,000nH, capacitance from 22pF to 220,000pF, and operating temperatures from -40C to 125C. The majority of these components are available in tape and reel, as well as bulk packaging.

Target applications for these new devices include digital A/V equipment (HDTV, DVD, PC and peripherals), cellular phones and base stations, modems, DSL equipment, WiFi equipment, PDA and GPS units, LAN networking equipment, RF amplifiers, automotive electronics, power supplies, motor controls, and medical equipment.
