Silicon Laboratories Inc. revealed that Amoi Electronics Co. Ltd has adopted its Aero I+ GSM/GPRS transceiver for several of Amoi's mobile handsets including the CA8, DF9, F6, F8 and F90 handsets.

The Aero transceiver product family includes the Aero I/Aero I+, Aero II and Aero EDGE radio. It integrates sensitive components including all RF and IF voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs), loop filters, clock coupling capacitors and VCO tuning components. The Aero I+, Aero II and Aero EDGE radio transceivers provide additional integration of a DCXO that permits the use of a standard 13/26MHz crystal instead of a VC-TCXO module to provide the RF transceiver reference clock. The Aero transceivers use a software-programmable universal baseband interface allowing handset designers to implement the Aero transceiver with all basebands.

"Amoi is a provider of full-featured, fashionable GSM/GPRS handsets," said Xie Hongquan, senior vice general manager of Amoi. "Silicon Laboratories' Aero I+ transceiver offers integration in a tiny footprint, which results in better performance and board space savings allowing us to easily provide a number of benefits to our customer," Hongquan added.
