TriQuint Semiconductor Inc. has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire TFR Technologies Inc., a technology pioneer of thin film resonator filters for communication applications using bulk acoustic wave (BAW) or film bulk acoustic resonator (FBAR) technology. TFR has developed critical intellectual property and the technological know-how required to produce BAW filter and resonator products.

Commenting on the acquisition, Ralph Quinsey, president and CEO of TriQuint stated, "I am delighted that we have reached an agreement with TFR Technologies to join the TriQuint team. TriQuint is focused on offering integrated front-end radio products to our customers, and TFR's BAW technology is vital to meeting the need for higher frequency filtering in next-generation wireless communications products."

Ken Lakin, president and founder of TFR, stated, "BAW technology has finally come of age and is prepared to meet the challenges of high volume applications. TFR is assuring its long term success in joining TriQuint to supply the future filter needs of both high volume consumer wireless markets and lower volume opportunities that require the high frequency, small size, and high selectivity of BAW products."
