Wirewound resistors tout thermal, space advantages
Keywords:ohmite? wfh series? wirewound resistor?
Ohmite Mfg Co. has introduced a new WFH series of flat heatsinkable wirewound resistors with ratings from 90W to 330W. The company says the new resistors offer a cost, weight and space savings as well as superior thermal efficiencies compared with conventional aluminum-housed resistors.
The WFH resistors are wound on flat cores rather than cylindrical, and are housed in flat aluminum extrusions that are 12.6mm in height across the entire product range. Heat is efficiently spread through the wide aluminum base plate to the heat sink. The resistor series is tappable, which is a feature not available in MIL-R-18546 type resistors. It also features solder, cable and "Fast-On" termination options. For detailed specs, check out the datasheet at Ohmite's website.
Pricing ranges from $17 to $42 each for 330W units in quantities of 1 to 500.
