Atsana, a developer of power-efficient, programmable multimedia processors for mobile devices, launched its Rapid Application development for Media-rich Product (RAMP) software platform.

The RAMP consists of a robust, small code footprint rtos software platform with bundled multimedia application software modules that include video camcorder, megapixel digital still camera, video and audio players, and 2D/3D graphics/gaming. It also enables rapid integration of third party partner-delivered solution components, including video streaming applications such video-on-demand and DMB.

According to the press release, the RAMP application platform offers middleware API's between the company's media processor and the host baseband processor, simplifying integration of the overall solution. In addition, it allows handset and other consumer product manufacturers to integrate and configure a range of multimedia functionality, and to offer new applications on the handset as they become available.

"RAMP lets developers benefit from a short time to market for a number of compelling reasons," shared Vivek Chhabra, Head of Software Development and Partnerships at Atsana. "The most attractive to our customers and partners is that Atsana minimizes changes to the baseband software which makes integration seamless. Atsana's core architecture is scalable and programmable, and supports multiple configurations and interfaces which allows our customers to rapidly rollout new features and codec technologies."

The RAMP software is already shipping with the company's J2211 media processor.
