CERDEC awards OLED contract to Universal Display
The U.S. Army Communication Electronics Research and Development Engineering Center (CERDEC) granted Universal Display Corp. a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I contract worth $69,999.
As part of the company's initiative in developing key OLED technologies, the contract entails Universal to focus its R&D efforts on infrared OLED technology with current-generation night vision capabilities suitable for military use.
The company's phosphorescent and top-emission OLED display (PHOLED) technology will be used in manufacturing infrared pixels on metal foil substrates. The technology will then be integrated with color displays, and operated in extreme weather conditions.
