DVD recorders burn DVD+R, DVD-R discs in 7 mins

Memorex expanded its family of optical drives with the release of its latest 16x dual-format, double-layer DVD recorders, which are available in both external and internal models.
According to the press release, the new recorders allow consumers to burn single-layer DVD+R/-R discs at speeds up to 16x and new double-layer DVD+R9 discs at speeds up to 4x. Consumers with no time to spare can now burn DVD+R and DVD-R discs in seven minutes and a full DVD+R9 disc in about 50 minutes, said Memorex. They can also burn up to 8.5GB of extended length movies, music and photos unto double-layer discs, which provide 80 percent more recording capacity compared to single-layer discs, added the company.
"DVD recording has become a key part of consumers' digital lifestyles. More and more consumers rely on high-performance Memorex products to capture, save and share their data," commented Allen Gharapetian, VP of marketing and product development. "Our new 16x dual-format, double-layer DVD recorders deliver the latest DVD recording speeds available, and allow consumers to easily record and save home movies, precious photos and important data for generations."
The 16x dual-format, double-layer internal drive will be available in retail stores with an estimated street price of $129.99, while the external model will be priced at $199.99. To complement its newest line of DVD recorders, the company also introduced its Director's Cut recordable DVDs and Cool Colors recordable DVDs.
