Ac-dc supplies maintain a new silence

Touting silent and efficient operation at the higher powers, Antec's TruePower 2.0 line of 380W to 550W ac-dc power supplies for PCs sports an audible noise level of only 21dBA (as per ISO 7779 measurements). The supplies include a 120mm fan that runs at the lowest speed appropriate to load and conditions, helping to achieve the optimum balance between noise reduction and necessary cooling.
"True silence is important to today's noise conscious PC users. Many companies claim to produce 'silent' power supplies but often are using varying and inaccurate methods for determining noise levels," said Scott Richards, worldwide VP of sales and marketing. "Using the ISO 7779 standard, we aim to standardize noise levels, thereby creating a more accurate reading of true silence for the consumer."
The supplies feature independent dual 12V regulated outputs, four serial ATA connectors, PCI Express graphic card power connectors, dedicated power connectors for the fan for easy control of fan speed, and compliance with ATX 12V 2.01 (24 pin main connector and a 24 pin to 20 pin adapter for backwards compatibility).
The supplies are available at an estimated street price of $89 to $159, depending on model, through major retailers, e-tailers and distributors. They are backed by the company's 3-year warranty.
