Advanced Analogic Technologies Inc. (AnalogicTech) unveiled the latest addition to its converter familythe AAT1152 fully integrated 850kHz 1A buck DC/DC converter.

According to the company, this new product adds a Power OK (POK) function that monitors the output, alerting the system if the output voltage falls out of regulation. The device architecture features full internal compensation, reducing the need for external components and conserving valuable board space, added the company.

"Computer peripherals, cable/DSL modems and network cards are among the many applications that can benefit from the AAT1152's combination of features," said Jan Nilsson, VP of Sales and Marketing for AnalogicTech. "For instance, the Power OK signal can prevent system errors that occur when the CPU is not receiving regulated voltage inputs."

The AAT1152 supports fixed inputs from 2.7V to 5V, and outputs are fixed or adjustable from 1V to 4.2V (depending on the options selected). The device features low on-resistance 110 m? MOSFET switches and achieves up to 95 percent efficiency. In addition, the DC/DC converter operates in constant PWM mode, producing very low ripple across the entire load spectrum. The AAT1152's high stability supports the use of low-cost, compact, ceramic capacitors, said AnalogicTech. A digital soft-start limits surge current during startup. The AAT1152 also features comprehensive current-limit and over-temperature protection circuits.

The AAT1152 is available in a 8-lead MSOP package. This device is rated over the extended industrial temperature range of -40C to 85C, and sells for $1.22 in 1,000-piece quantities.
