BOE Hydis to begin producing mobile phone displays

Thin-film liquid crystal display supplier BOE Hydis announced Tuesday (Jan. 18) it would begin producing displays for mobile phones starting in February.

BOE Hydis, will produce the displays at its two production lines in Icheon. The company will build 1.8, 2, and 2.2 in. mobile displays with the company's AFFS (Advanced Fringe Field Switching) technology, in QCIF and QVGA formats. It will also produce low-end mobile displays with twisted-nematic technology.

The company expects to expand its mobile display line to include versions for DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) video, as well as high definition camera phones.
