Intersil Corp. has sold its Xicor serial EEPROM product lines to IC Microsystems, a leading IC design company in Malaysia, for an undisclosed amount.
Intersil acquired Xicor in July 2004 to strengthen its analog and mixed-signal product line and has been divesting non-core businesses. IC Microsystems, also known as ICmic, bolsters its serial EEPROM product and technology expertise through the acquisition.
"As we continue in our global expansion, the acquisition of this Serial EEPROM Product line from such an established company, Intersil, will provide us with a good additional product technology, strong distributor network and large customer base," said Abd Rashid, president and chief executive of ICmic, in a statement.
