Nanosys signs to support Sharp in fuel cell project

Nanosys Inc., the nanotechnology startup forced to call off an IPO in 2004, has agreed to develop nanotechnology-enabled fuel cells with Sharp Corp.

Palo Alto-based Nanosys will provide a proprietary nanostructure technology to enhance the performance of fuel cells for use in portable consumer electronics such as laptop computers, cellphones and cameras, Nanosys said. Neither financial details nor the term of the agreement were disclosed.

"Sharp's expertise and success in the development and commercialization of portable electronics and renewable energy products makes them an excellent collaborator for Nanosys," said Calvin Chow, Nanosys' chief executive officer, in a statement.
