Supertex Inc. announced the release of its HV220 and HV230 low charge injection 8-channel, high-voltage analog switch ICs.

Designed for applications requiring high voltage, up to 200V, switching controlled by low voltage signals, such as medical ultrasound imaging and metal flaw detection, both chips are offered in a 26-lead TAPP (TA) package that provides higher PC board density.

"We are fully committed to the ultrasound marketplace and are continually finding new packaging options in order to save premium board space," shared Ahmed Masood, the company's Director of Marketing. "Our new TAPP package is the ideal IC solution for system designers working on next generation ultrasound applications."

Other features include low charge injections to obtain clearer images and a faster frame rate; a 22-ohm switch resistance that minimizes the return signal attenuation; and a CMOS serial shift register that minimizes I/O connections and power dissipation. In addition, the HV230 features integrated bleed resistors on the outputs that prevent random movement of un-energized transducers while saving valuable board space.

Aside from the 26-lead TA package, the HV220 is also available in a 25-lead FPBGA (GA) package. Samples are available from stock, with lead time for production quantities is 4 to 5 weeks ARO. Pricing is $16.23 each for the HV220TA, $17.47 for the HV220GA and $13.12 for the HV230TA in 1,000-unit quantities for these standard packages.
