The new Series 24 Control Switch Relay (CSR) from Electroswitch provides both manual and supervisory control of power circuit breakers, and allows for the automation of virtually any breaker control switch function.

Configurable for various power industry applications, the Series 24 CSR combines the functions of a control switch and a remote-controlled solenoid without special wiring. The unit's blade-and-terminal construction and stacking procedures allow up to 20 independent contacts in the same deck. Custom contacting is available. Contact ratings are 60A for one minute and 30A continuous, up to 600Vac. A built-in bipolar diode enables the unit to withstand transients on the control bus up to 3.5kV. The devices comply with relevant ANSI/IEEE, UL and CSA standards.

The company says with three basic circuits, multiple-voltage capability, and a choice of contact configurations, the new CSR allows for the automation of virtually any breaker control switch function. When a manual substation is converted to supervisory control, the manual CSR can be directly retrofitted into a SCADA-compatible breaker control switch, replacing interposing relays and associated wiring.

The new device is available with a SCADA disable function. Pushing in the handle of this model disables remote operation, allowing only local/manual control so that testing or service can be performed safely. Target flag agreement is always true, regardless of manual or electric trip, in either the remote or local mode. The target remains latched when the handle returns to normal position and always shows the last active position.

In addition, this model provides push-activated N/O and N/C contacts (with electrical connections) for customer use as SCADA feedback of status indication.

Prices start at $500. Delivery is two weeks.
