Xilinx extends support in Asia

Programmable logic solutions provider Xilinx Inc. has revealed expansion plans at its Shanghai office, in a bid to support customers in the Asia-Pacific region.

The company's technical support hotline at its Shanghai office will provide access to Xilinx support engineers via the web, email and phone for product details, design tips and technical support issues. Customers in mainland China, Taiwan, South Korea, ASEAN, India and Australia/NZ can now receive general technical support assistance in English and Mandarin in the Asia-Pacific time zone. Korean-language support will be ready by late 2005.

An 18-seat customer-training center will provide a broad range of Xilinx programmable logic design courses for FPGAs, CPLDs, low-cost design, embedded systems, DSP, multi-gigabit transceivers, and hdls. Xilinx engineers will be able to produce an FPGA design in less time and optimize system-level benefits for lower total costs.

Moreover, a simplified Chinese support website (www.xilinx.com/cn/support/) for immediate access to the latest technical data available 24 hours a day, similar to the www.xilinx.com/support/ website. In this way, Chinese customers can get real-time product updates, download service packs and access the company's support database for answers to the latest known technical issues.

"By providing a comprehensive set of support and services in their local languages and in their same time zones, we can more effectively help our customers achieve lower total costs, higher performance and better ease-of-use in their designs," added David Keefe, director, global services division, Xilinx Asia Pacific.
