NJR LED driver provides 18V-output voltage

The NJU6049 from New Japan Radio Co. Ltd (NJR) is a high efficient white LED driver that contains a high efficient step-up dc-dc converter and 20mA-output driver. According to the company, the 18V-output voltage (max) ensures up to 4 LEDs in serial.

With a 1.7V to 6.5V operating voltage for step-up circuits (VDD), the device features over voltage protection circuit, as well as shut down circuit. Additionally, the high frequency of the step-up dc-dc converter permits the use of small, low-profile inductors and capacitors to minimize the footprint in space-conscious portable applications, said NJR.

Target applications include cellphones, PDAs and camcorders.
