U.S.-based Sharp Microelectronics has expanded the shipments of its new line of ARM720T 16/32bit and 32bit System-on-Chips (SoCs). Increased customer adoption of the BlueStreak platform reflects market acceptance for the flexibility and migration path provided by Sharp's 16/32bit and 32bit line.

According to the company, since the beta release of the two SoCs in August of 2004, more than 20 customers have been designing with the 16/32bit LH79525 and 32bit LH79524 SoCs.

Suitable for a broad range of applications, the LH79524 and LH79525 SoCs include an on-chip programmable color LCD controller, and on-board Ethernet MAC, USB functionality and serial ports for enhanced connectivity and interoperability. The features are essential for networked and media applications where visual content and connectivity between devices are paramount. The SoCs are designed to support a variety of applications, including smart toys, medical and industrial devices, GPS and tracking systems.
