Rotary switches are customizable

NKK Switches has released a series of rotary switches that offer standard-sized rotary devices in two to 11 positions, and multiple poles that are customizable with 30-degree indexing.

Designed for transportation/marine, communication, industrial and medical industries, the new HS-PS series can achieve multiple poles by stacking decks, and are pre-assembled at the factory per customer requirements. The shafts are constructed of brass with nickel plating and the cases are manufactured of molded-in phenolic resin material. These switches feature adjustable stopper positions that can be set as needed. The terminals are solder lug.

The UL-rated HS16 series is rated for 12A at 125Vac or 6A at 250Vac. These rotary switches have a diameter of 55mm and can be specified in single pole up to six poles and in shorting or non-shorting models. Mechanical life is rated at 15,000 operations minimum and electrical life is 7,500 operations minimum.

The PS series devices are rated for 30A at 125Vac/250Vac. These non-shorting rotary switches have a diameter of 76mm and are available in single pole up to five poles. Screw terminals are featured on all models. Mechanical life is rated at 10,000 operations minimum and electrical rating is 5,000 operations minimum.

The HS16 or PS series rotaries can be specified with either knurled or D-Flat shafts. Designers also have a choice between two different-sized knobs constructed of phenolic resin. These knobs are black with a white indicator line for setting positions and are designed for use with D-Flat knob options.

Pricing for the HS16 series switches starts at $11.40 each in quantities of 500. Delivery is from stock to four weeks.
