Flat chip resistor arrays provide tight tracking

Vishay Intertechnology Inc.'s new series of flat chip resistor arrays provide tracking temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) values as low as 10ppm/K with a matched tolerance of 0.1 percent. The new surface-mount devices integrate four thin-film resistors in a 0612 package.

The new Vishay Beyschlag ACAC 0612 precision series and ACAC 0612 professional series resistor arrays are designed for applications that demand high component densities and accurate and stable resistor performance. The ACAC 0612 resistor arrays are suitable for use in voltage dividers, feedback circuits, and signal conditioning functions. Target applications include automotive engine control units, climate control, transmission controls and driver safety systems, mobile telecom base stations, medical instruments, precision measuring equipment, and high-end audio amplifiers. The arrays can also be used in sensing and management systems for PSUs and battery chargers.

The ACAC 0612 precision series resistor arrays feature an absolute TCR of 25ppm/K and a tracking TCR of 15ppm/K. A tracking TCR of 10ppm/K is available on request. The ACAC 0612 professional series resistor arrays feature an absolute TCR of 50ppm/K with a 25ppm/K available on request. The ACAC 0612 precision series arrays provide an absolute tolerance of 0.25 percent and a matched tolerance of 0.1 percent, while the ACAC 0612 professional series arrays offer an absolute tolerance of 1 percent.

The resistor arrays have a footprint of 1.6-by-3.2mm, a reduction of approximately 40 percent when compared to the use of four discrete 0603 resistors. Resistance values range from 100? to 221?. The arrays are available with four equal values, four different values or two equal value pairs. Maximum power dissipation is 0.3W, with individual resistors rated at a maximum of 0.1W.

The Rmin/Rmax ratio for the professional series arrays, with different individual resistance values, is 1:10, while the precision series arrays provide a 1:5 ratio. Close tolerance matching of 0.1 percent in the case of the precision series arrays ensures highly reliable and stable fixed resistor ratios, said the company.

The ACAC 0612 resistor arrays are lead-free, and the pure tin plating provides compatibility with lead-free and lead-containing soldering processes. Vishay says extensive testing has proven the immunity of the plating against tin whisker growth, and the resistor arrays comply with the CEFIC-EECA-EICTA list of legal restrictions on hazardous substances per RoHS.

Pricing for ACAC 0612 resistor arrays ranges from approximately 6 cents to $1 in quantities of 100, depending on product specifications.
