Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has officially opened its new microprocessor test, mark and pack (TMP) facility in Suzhou, China. The facility, which began rolling out products last December, occupies 11,000 square-meters and is located adjacent to Spansion (China) Ltd's existing flash memory assembly and TMP building.

The new TMP facility is currently testing, marking and packing 7G products, including AMD Sempron processors. AMD plans to begin moving its 8G microprocessors through the facility in the second half of 2005.

The company expects the TMP facility to further empower their growth momentum in China and enhance its worldwide growth strategy. AMD says the construction demonstrates long-term commitment to China and continues a strategic focus that started in 1996 when the company began construction of the adjacent flash memory assembly and TMP plant.
