SigmaTel ramps up production in ASAT's Dongguan facility

SigmaTel Inc. has completed qualification and is ramping production on lead-free and green fine pitch ball grid array in ASAT Holdings Ltd's manufacturing facility in Dongguan, mainland China.

SigmaTel offers a wide range of mixed-signal ICs that convert analog signals, such as music and voice, to digital signals required by computers for processing and playback. Their portable audio system-on-chip (SoC) product line addresses the digital-to-analog conversion requirements and controller functionality.

"SigmaTel has a long-standing partnership with ASAT. They have been assembling and testing SigmaTel products for the last 5 years," said Steve Beatty, SVP of operations and engineering services at SigmaTel.

ASAT is a provider of provider of semiconductor assembly, test and package design services.
