PFU Ltd, a Fujitsu group company, announced its fourth generation Plug-N-Run modulesthe Plug-N-Run G4X and G4B families of products for embedded applications, which are compliant with the com express standard for Extended and Basic Form Factor modules, respectively. These new devices use intel pentium m and Celeron M processors and the Mobile Intel 915GM Express chipset.

According to Kishan Jainandunsing, VP of technology and business development for PFU Systems Inc., the US subsidiary of PFU, their new products give OEMs a broad choice of COM Express modules for a wide range of applications. "The Plug-N-Run G4X is optimized for the dual channel memory architecture on the Mobile Intel 915GM Express chipset, while the Plug-N-Run G4B is optimized for small footprints," Jainandunsing explained.

The Plug-N-Run G4X and G4B modules provide access to the complete feature set available on the Mobile Intel 915GM Express chipset. These devices feature four x1 PCI Express links for an aggregate throughput of 10Gbps; dual SerialATA-150 links for aggregate bandwidth of 300MBps; dual and single channel memory architectures; up to 2GB DDR2-533MHz memory expansion; single 40Gbps, x16 PCI Express link for high-performance graphics processors; dual LVDS channels; dual SDVO channels for TMDS transmitters; VGA & TV-out; 10/100Base-T Ethernet link; eight USB 2.0 ports; and a PCI 2.3 bus, 32bit/33MHz and single ATA100 IDE channel. Additional features include CE quality audio with AC '97 2.3 and Intel High Definition audio, optional heat spreader, and compatibility with Linux and Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP.

PFU added that the Plug-N-Run G4X and G4B modules help OEMs respond quickly to changing customer needs in local markets and to the trend of product individualization in global markets.

The Plug-N-Run G4X modules will first be offered with Intel Pentium M Processor 760 running at 2GHz and the Intel Pentium M Processor low voltage 738 running at 1.4GHz. The Plug-N-Run G4B modules will first be offered with the Intel Pentium M Processor low voltage 738 running at 1.4GHz. Limited sample quantities will be available this month and general availability is scheduled for May 2005. Plug-N-Run G4X and G4B modules with other Intel Pentium M and Celeron M processor speeds will become available shortly thereafter.
