Techtium Ltd and Energizer Holdings Inc. have signed an agreement to pursue a joint development and marketing of hybrid battery solutions for power-hungry devices.

Energizer with its expertise in alkaline and lithium primary batteries, and Techtium (Israel), with its integrated chip and hybrid battery technology, plan to leverage their combined strengths to develop hybrid battery solutions capable of extended battery life and power by drawing on a device's existing rechargeable battery, as well as a secondary battery system, either primary or rechargeable.

Both companies hope to accelerate the design-in of economical power solutions for OEMs by providing additional power for portable devices which require more battery life for their current features, as well as power for other features that are not currently possible because of existing battery limitations.

The companies are now working with leading cellular, audio, computer and other portable electronic device manufacturers to integrate the Techtium hybrid battery and charging technology, powered by Energizer batteries, into new devices.
