Xilinx Inc. revealed that its Asia-Pacific headquarters (XAP) based in Singapore is fully operational and ready to capitalize on the semiconductor market growth across the region. With its final-test chip facility now completed, XAP will start shipping programmable chips, including mainstream 130nm and advanced 90nm products next month.

Having hired 80 employees in its first year, XAP has built up a regional operations base covering product planning, supply chain management and product testing, while completing the set up of its Asia Pacific infrastructure functions, such as finance, human resources, IT, sales operations, marketing and customer service.

"The set up of our Asia-Pacific headquarters is a strategic milestone in our global expansion plans to invest our resources and increase our position in high-growth regions," said Wim Roelandts, chairman, president, CEO of Xilinx.
