Aprio Technologies Inc., a startup company developing design-for-manufacturing (DFM) software, has appointed four luminaries of the EDA and semiconductor industries to its technical advisory board.

The technical advisory board (TAB), chartered to provide input and guidance on Aprio's long-term product development and research plans, includes: Vassilios Gerousis, former Infineon chief scientist; Warren Grobman, former director of Design to Manufacturing for Motorola; William Ho, past Synopsys vice president R&D; and Kees Vissers, principal engineer, Xilinx Research.

"Aprio's development staff includes some of the best and brightest in the industry. And like most smart, creative people, they welcome the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from other talented and capable individuals. This advisory board will serve that function while also giving us deeper insight into the critical DFM requirements across semiconductor design and manufacturing," said Mike Gianfagna, Aprio's president and CEO, in a statement.

Aprio launched its Halo DFM suite of tools in January 2004. The tools provide optical proximity correction (OPC) that claims to let manufacturing groups make incremental changes without re-running the entire OPC.
