LCD module manufacturer Shanghai SVA-NEC Liquid Crystal Display Co. Ltd plans on increasing its production capacity from its fifth-generation (5G) plant and will be shipping its products in June.

Currently, SVA NEC has a monthly capacity of 52,000 glass substrates at its 5G plant.

According to the company, it will target a monthly capacity of 90,000 substrates before the second half of the year. While most of the company's output are 15in LCD monitor panels, the company's actual output only ranges from 20,000 units to 30,000 units. The company says it's due to declining quotes for LCD monitor panels, with average selling prices (ASPs) ranging from $100 to $110.

However, Yang Ronghua, vice president, also stresses that the company will start shipping 17in LCD monitor panels at the same time. Other products, such as 19in LCD monitor panels and 26in LCD TV panels will be distributed by the end of the year.

Further, SVA NEC is mulling the construction of an additional plant by 2008. The facility would possibly focus on 6G or 7G production, with an initial capacity of 60,000 substrates per month.
